We are flying into Tegel airport in Berlin and staying pretty much in alexanderplatz. Any suggestions on the best way to get to the hotel? First time to Berlin and definitely do not know anything about getting around.
I have not been to Berlin, but usually hotel websites have recommendations on how to arrive that include public transportation as well as taxi. Also a good guidebook would have the basics about airport to city center and how to navigate the city.
Did you know that every airport website has a transportation section (how to get to/from the airport)? Google Tegel Airport and go from there.
Go to the Bahn Query page and put in Tegel airport and the address of the hotel, the date and approximate time you plan on arriving and see what it says. The website will show local public transport.
Thank you everyone! huge help.
https://fahrinfo.bvg.de/en (and the corresponding app) tends to be better for information about local transport in Berlin. bahn.de has the same information, but is not optimized for urban transport.
Most important advice: If you buy a paper ticket, do not forget to stamp it before first use.
From Tegel airport you have the option of a bus or taxi, there is no train station at the airport however a bus will take you to one nearby. Myself and a few friends were there the other weekend and we simply used Uber as it was the most cost effective and quickest option for us.
As has been suggested the airport website has all the information required about transportation to and from the airport.
