Transferring in Nuremberg Main Station (Nürnberg Hbf): How long is enough time?

I am traveling via train between Amberg and Munich, and this is the proposed train itinerary given by trainline europe:

Train: RE 3594
07:25 Amberg
08:14 Nürnberg Hbf (Nuremberg Main station)
5 min transfer time
Train: ICE 521
08:19 Nürnberg Hbf (Nuremberg Main station)
09:24 München Hbf (Munich Main station)

Is that enough time to transfer from the regional line to the ICE line?

That is a tight connection I remember that station as being a hub pretty big but if you miss it you will not have to buy another ticket you would have to wait for the next train.

If the DB system comes up with a connection like that, it thinks that it's doable. In my experience it is (I'm a frequent user of the Nuremberg station), provided, of course, the Amberg train is on time. You will arrive at track #16 and depart from track #9, that is you will have a distance of approx 80m and two staircases to go (there are escalators in the central tunnel (»Hauptausgang«) and elevators in the west tunnel - section F on the platform).

If you travel on a saver fare and the incoming train is late, you are entitled to take the next ICE to Munich, dep.8:54, arr. 10:02. Either ask the conductor of the Amberg train to confirm the delay or go to the DB Information in the central hall. They will know if your train was late and stamp your ticket accordingly.

Thank you! Is there a way I can see a map of the layout of the station now with the tracks labeled?

You can also leave a little earlier on the 7:00 train from Amberg to Nuremberg. You're allowed to do that, even if it is a Sparpreis ticket. Any regional train to your connecting IC, ICE, or EC train.

Do you already have a ticket? What kind of a ticket do you have.?

If you have, or will buy, a full fare, fully flexible ticket, you just wait about half an hour for the next ICE to Munich. If you are thinking of buying the ticket online, but haven't yet, you can specify a longer stopover and get to Munich just after 10 AM.

I think if the RE is on time, the connection is makable. It's not quite as far as it looks because tracks 10 and 11 go through the station without a platform. Once in the tunnel, you go past staits to 14/15 and 12/13 before getting to 8/9.

The main thing is to be at the door of the coach with your luggage, ready to get off, when the train stops. (This isn't a plane, where you are supposed to remain seated until the plane comes to a complete stop at the gate) Locate the stairs to one of the tunnels. There are three of them, so one should be close to you and other people will be going there too. Follow the herd.

Once in the tunnel, there are large hanging signs for the platforms. You'll go past two stairs and up the third. When you are on the platform of your connecting train, get on the first car and find a seat, or your seat, if you have a reservation.

This layout of the Nürnberg station shows all of the tracks and platforms..

Moreover, I'd take a seat in the first car of the Amberg train. It will end up near the leftmost tunnel shown on the map linked by Lee. Take that ("Westausgang"), it has an elevator and is less crowded than the central and eastern tunnels.
