Transfer instructions at Frankfurt Airport

I will be arriving FRA on United, which is scheduled to deplane at Gate A-15 thru A20. I am connecting to LH to Florence, which is listed to depart from Gate A-19. I am assuming I have to clear customs, but are these gates next to each other? Appreciate any instructions. I have read some other posts but the answers were not clear. I only have 90 minutes to transfer.

If you arrive in Germany from outside the Schengen zone, headed for Florence, you will have to go through Schengen Immigration in Frankfurt, then you will be routed to the adjacent Gate A-19 for your flight on to Florence. If you only have luggage that was checked on to Florence, you will not see it until you arrive in Italy, where customs will be a formality.

If incoming flight is on time you have more than enough time. If this gets cut close the airport staff will meet the incoming flight and help you through. If worst comes to worst and they can't get you through fast enough, they will get you on next plane, there are numerous connections. Your gates are in the same area, but incoming flights sometimes do not gate and are unloaded via bus on the tarmac, which also is not as bad as it seems as the bus unloads at a central location is at the base of the A section and close to passport control. We've been through Frankurt several times and have never had any problem navigating it or making a connection, including once getting off the bus 10 minutes before departure of our connecting light, and made it.
