Trains from Frankfurt to Colmar, France and then from Colmar to Nurnberg

Next June we will be flying into Frankfurt and want to go to Colmar, France for a few days. Then we need to get to Nurnberg to begin a river cruise. Any suggestions on the route or trains to take?

Your best bet is to look it up in http://www.bahn.de/ This will give you the quickest route.
Make sure you put in the full station name, in the local language, and spell it correctly. If you don't get the name exactly right it will give you a list of alternatives.
It makes a difference whether you want to get the train directly from the airport (Frankfurt(M)Flughafen), from the main station in the city centre (Frankfurt(Main)Hbf) or some other local station.
Frankfurt to Colmar takes 3-4 hours changing (usually) at Offenburg and Strassbourg.
Colmar to "Nürnberg Hbf" takes 6-7 hours changing at (usually) Basel and Karlsruhe

Note Ü and U are two different letters in German, but bahn.de is fairly forgiving and accepts the English spelling NUREMBERG as well

June is pretty far away, but according to the current schedule, Colmar to Nuremberg can be done in under 6 hours. Best way is to buy a single ticket to Strasbourg on the local TER train depart 8:37, arrive Strasbourg at 9:09. That train is 12.30 euro, or 9.30 euro if over 60. Then buy an advance nonrefundable ticket to Nuremberg using the TGV to Stuttgart changing to an IC train to Nuremberg, which is currently 49 euro. That connection departs Strasbourg at 9:47 and arrives Nuremberg at 2:18 pm.
The train schedules will be adjusted on December 15, and again around June 15. If you are traveling late June, you will need to wait until the schedules come out sometime in April. You can get into detail planning then.
