Trains. Bavaria

For trains going from Munich to Zugspitize any need to book in advance or just do it on same day? This is in May 2019. Also in May ill be travelling from Munich to Prague by train and will it be necessary to book in advance? What is a good site to book?

Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a regional train, no need to book in advance.
Munich to Prague can be a train, but a bus is often quicker.
You can look at both at www.bahn.com
There is a unified price ticket that includes travel from Munich, a r/t to Zugspitze and use of the other lifts while you are there.

Bus tickets to Prague can also be gotten from other operators like Flixbus.

For an overview start here (covers all bus operators including DB). Personally, I prefer the more comfortable train, but it's undeniably slower than the bus.

if you decide on the train NEVER buy your ticket from the DB website (www.bahn.com) but from the e-shop of Czech Rail. Trains are note operated by the DB but by an joint venture of CD and Laenderbahn (ultimately a subsidiary of the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato), and they sell tickets much cheaper.

Thanks for the response. Is booking from bahn.com way more expensive or is something else not right with booking them?

Well, for trains to / from / within Germany, the DB web site (www.bahn.com) generally is the best booking platform (European resellers like trainline.eu will offer same prices but not all connections). But that is never true for trains between Munich and Prague, which are not operated by DB but by a joint venture of Czech Rail and the Bavarian Transport Authority (BEG, carrier is the Laenderbahn). DB has withdrawn all it's trains from that line some years ago and wants you to use either it's direct bus or a train / bus combo via Nürnberg.

Just compare prices for a random day of next week (3/7): for the the connection dep. 8:43, www.bahn.com offers either a »Prag Spezial ticket« (€39.00) or it's "flex price" (= standard price) ticket (€74.60). The e-shop of CD sells the same ticket for czk 501 = €19.50.
