We will be traveling in June to Germany and Austria. We plan to travel by train and/or bus. We will be in Salzburg for a few days, including a day trip to Königssee (Berchtesgaden). Next we want to go to Mittenwald. It looks like we need to take a train from Salzburg through Munich to get to Mittenwald. Is there a better way to get to Munich from Salzburg (or Konigssee) without renting a car? Thanks!

You can also get from Salzburg to Mittenwald via Innsbruck, which is faster, but still over 3.5 hours one way. Looking Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the Deutsche Bahn train schedule link and tips for using it. View "Details" to see the connection points on an any given departure.
