train travel from Brussels to munich

Is travelling from Brussels a problem in May 2025? Would we be better off to travel by plane?

No, if you are fine with spending about 7 hours on the train including getting off at Frankfurt to take a connecting train to Munich; you can search and buy a ticket on this site:
https://int.bahn.de/en/offers

a direct flight takes 1 hour and 30 minutes of course not counting the time you need to commute to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight and go through security screening.

Brussel airlines has 6 direct flights to Munich a day

In my experience German long distance trains are still quite unreliable, especially on the congested Cologne-Frankfurt axis, which you will be taking. Be ready for delays. The last time I did that trip my train from Brussels to Frankfurt was heavily delayed passing through the Cologne-Bonn area, but fortunately the train I was due to take from Frankfurt to Munich was stuck in the same queue of trains behind mine, so my connection still worked.
