Hello! I am traveling with my two teenagers this spring. We will be in Augsburg (flying into Munich) for an event in early June (about a week), and then plan to take the train from Augsburg to Amsterdam and stay there four days before heading back to the United States. We considered flying Munich to Amsterdam, but since the train ride can be done in a day, we figured why not see some countryside rather than spend our day shuttling between airports. My question is regarding tickets. I found one way tickets (quite direct) for roughly 90 Euro per person on the DB Navigator app. Is that a good price and is the app the best place to buy tickets? If not, what is the best place? Also is second class sufficient, or is the relatively reasonable increase in price for first class worth it, especially since we have luggage?
Also, if we do side trips while in Augsburg, what is the best type of ticket for that and where do you get it? Possible side trips would be Munich, some of the castles in the area, maybe Salzburg. Any other ideas? Nothing too far away because we are tied up much of the time with the event we are attending.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!
