We will be traveling in Germany and Switzerland in May 2018. Is there a train that runs between Trier, Germany and Murren, Switzerland? Also between Murren and Munich.
Thanks
You can get from just about anywhere in Europe to just about anywhere else by rail, but not on a single train. You have to make changes along the way. You can look up approximately how to do it at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
So yes, it is easily done, but you will have to change trains several times. For one thing, Muerren sits on the side of a mountain and you have to take some kind of cable car to get there. Second, the railroad tracks going to a point to get these cable cars are narrower than standard tracks, so you have to change at Interlaken Ost to a train that can run on those narrow tracks.
The schedules also will be readjusted about December 9, so just look at a day in the near future to get an idea of what is involved. After December 9, the schedules will all be set.
