Hi,
The route from Vienna to Hamburg is also offered as a night train option, which is direct. I've done that a number of times in both directions at night. You arrive sometime after 09:00 and prior to 10:00. The DB website indicates that exactly.

There is also a direct day train in 9 1/4 hours.
