We plan to visit Nurnberg in June and are thinking of taking the train from there to Frankfurt Airport to catch a flight to Prague. Rick's guide book says it is a 2.5 hour ride. Is it direct or does one have to make any transfers? Thanks in advance for the input.
Yes, the ICE train is about 2 1/2 hours and it is a direct train ride with 3 stops, but that depends on which train you get. Most will go directly to the airport with no transfers, but make sure you book a train that does not have a transfer, as a few do.
You can check it out yourself at https://int.bahn.de/en. Input Nuremberg for the departure, but make sure you input Frankfurt Flughafen (airport) for the arrival.
Look on int.bahn.de website.
You can see the connections and options.
You want Frankfurt flughafen (airport)
Looks like many ICE trains, these are the fastest.
might be faster to go direct from Nuremberg to Prague (rail, bus, air)
would definitely be more convenient
Yes, taking a train from Nürnberg to Prague sounds like a much better option for you.
You can get from Nuremberg to Prague in 4 3/4 hours by train for as low as 39 EUR with an advance purchase Prag Spezial Ticket, Or 81.20 EUR for a spur of the moment ticket. or 126 EUR for a 1st class ticket.
You will get there faster and for less money than going all the way to FRA and flying to Prague airport, outside the city and still have to get transport into Prague.
And, as periscope says, the bus is even faster and cheaper.
