Is there a train from Munich into Verona Italy? Anyone know which website would be the best to find it on?
Yes there is. Use Bahn.de to find trains all over Europe and buy tickets starting in Germany.
Thanks. Is Munchen DBF the main train station?
Yes there is. I haven't taken it, I just looked it up on The Man in Seat 61 (a very valuable resource). He says there is a EuroCity train direct from Munich to Verona via the very scenic Brenner Pass every couple hours. There are also two night trains from Munich which could be used. One goes direct to Venice and the other direct to Milan. You could continue the next morning from either place. http://www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Munich.htm#Munich-Italy
Thanks. We have to wind up in Milan to fly back to NY, but would probably take the early morning train to Verona and spend a few nights. We were going to fly from Munich back, but may as well take the train. It's less money and by the time you get to airport early, fly get bags, etc, the train isn't much longer.
Does anyone know how far out you can book the tickets?
Thanks Jen for that site as well...looks like a lot of great information. I know what website I will be on this weekend!
Its München HBF. You will see an HBF (abbreviation for Hauptbahnhof - main train station) for many cities in Germany.
let's not forget rome2rio for info
Again, rome2rio is just a tool for obscure routings. Munich to Verona is a straight forward Eurocity train which can be booked 3 months from departure date. Every 2 hours at 38 past the odd hours from 7:38 to 15:38. Takes 5 hours 20 minutes.
The train from Munich to Verona is a pretty major route, and it goes through Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass on the way down there. It's a trip best taken in the day time due to the route going through the Alps.
tb,
As the previous reply indicated, you'll have no trouble finding a train from Munich to Verona, as that's a major route. The bahn.de website has all the details. Travel time is about 5H:20M if you use one of the direct trains. Note that your destination station will be Verona Porta Nuova. When you arrive in Verona, you can either walk to your hotel, take a Bus or Taxi from the station (I normally use a Taxi as it's not far).
You can find those trains on the German Rail (Bahn) schedule website. Put in from "Munich" and to "Verona Porta Nuova". There are five EC trains a day. One goes on to Venice, two go on to Bologna, and two terminate in Verona.
The night train to Venice goes through Salzburg and Villach, Austria, not Verona. The night train to Milan stops in Verona at 2:37 AM.
