Is this a fast train? How long is the trip? Has anyone booked a van instead (there are 6 of us)? Is the time in Berlin from the Norwegian Baltic Cruise worth the long trip? Cheapest ship excursion is $475!!

Check times at www.bahn.com.
Not a particularly fast train. 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on when you get off the ship. Its also 2 1/2 hours by van.

The price is absurd. It seems that on the Baltic cruises, the ships really ‘go overboard’ on pricing. I just looked up the price at SPB Tours. Their price is $105.
That said, it is only worth it if you feel you MUST visit Berlin.

We just stayed in Warnemunde for the morning. It's a beautiful little vacation town for the Germans, and they were having a big flea market on Saturday morning.
The time you'd have to stay in Berlin after the trip wouldn't be worth the effort to get there. There's just so much to see there.
