train cancellations germany

Is there anyway to rebook cancelled segments of a train in Germany online on their website. Due to the recent storm some trains have been cancelled. Do they automatically rebook ?

Once your train has been cancelled, you can use any train you want without rebooking. Just show your old ticket. If you bought a seat reservation, just get that changed at the station.

Hi,

I have my train journey from Stuttgart to Munchen on 2nd January 2024 at 18:14 cancelled.

Is it possible to use a different train journey such as Heidelberg to Munchen on 2nd January 2024 at 15:13? Or do I have to choose the same route from Stuttgart to Munchen?

I have twice contacted DB using their website contact form, however, there has been no reply to date.

Thank you.

Hi Jalil,

when your train is cancelled you could use any other train on your booked route that day.
Or you could cancel and refund your ticket.

In your case the train has been cancelled because of construction work near Stuttgart main station.
The alternatives would be to go by bus to Esslingen and from there by train to Munich.

Your ticket is not valid from Heidelberg to Munich. But you could buy a ticket from Heidelberg to Esslingen and from Esslingen to Munich you have your existing ticket.
If you do so, I would recommend to book a seat reservation as well (from Heidelberg to Munich) as it will be a heavy travel day.

If you have a seat reaservation for the cancelled train you can get a refund at the Bahn service centers.

if you check https://int.bahn.de/en/ you can see that, as mentioned above, there is a replacement bus between Stuttgart and Esslingen. You can take any bus/train combination of your choice instead, e.g. Stuttgart dep. 17:30 or 18:30, resp. If you had a seat reservation for the canceled train, go to the counter in Stuttgart Hbvf. and ask for your money back or have the reservation exchanged for a new one (the latter is not absolutely necessary, as the forecast for the train is "medium demand").
