Traditional restaurant recommendations for goose

I will be in center city Frankfurt this Saturday and would appreciate restaurant recommendations for a traditional goose dinner.

Thanks!

Would you consider a bit of an excursion? There are multiple direct trains to Ladenburg (about an hour), where we had a fantastic goose meal at Zum Ochsen. They are famous for goose, and we enjoyed it prepared two ways -- smoked and roasted breast. It was absolutely delicious. There's also goose leg, stuffed goose, etc. Ask for the Gansekarte (goose menu). Ladenburg is also very atmospheric and picturesque. If you aren't wedded to Frankfurt, I'd definitely recommend this. Completely worth the trip.

Wherever you go I would call ahead and reserve your goose dinner. At least in my area goose prices have doubled this year. Some restaurants are no longer offering it, as it has become too expensive. Things like bird flu this year have really impacted the availability of goose. Most of the goose in Germany comes from Poland or Hungary. Christmas day goose could be hard to come by this year. For Kirwa this weekend near me a goose breast dinner was Eur 19.90.

I had never had goose in my life but since goose is a big deal for Christmas in Germany, we did it. It was OK, nothing to be excited about.

Yes, prices are probably higher this winter. The goose leg or breast dinner at the restaurant I mentioned above is 44€ this season!
