2 adults and 2 teenagers looking for accommodations for the night before flying out of Frankfurt airport. This is for the night of July 7, 2015. The flight is scheduled to depart Frankfurt at 12:45 PM. We’ll have to return a rental car. Is there a nice gasthaus or pension less than an hour from the airport (that is also reasonably priced)? We will be coming from the Bamberg area. We have no desire for the city of Frankfurt. Thanks.

I've stayed here before a morning flight from FRA. It's right across the Bahnhofplatz from the Mainz Hbf, a 30 minute S-Bahn trip to the airport. The prices are, IMO, reasonable, and it has a great breakfast buffet.
Another suggestion, depending on the train you take, Bacharach is less than an hour from Frankfurt Hbf.

If you want a charming town, try Eltville on the Rhine. You could also head to the Taunus mountain area to Bad Homburg, Kronberg, or Bad Soden. You could even stay in Limburg, Marburg, Seligenstadt, or Gelnhausen since you have a car. All of them are pretty little towns, with lots of history and cool architecture. Büdingen is a walled medieval town and probably the most interesting.
Sorry to hear you don't want to see Frankfurt, one of the most historic and older cities of Germany.

You might consider Aschaffenburg along the route from Bamberg to Frankfurt, about 30 minutes from the Frankfurt Airport. We like the Cafe Fischer for rooms. There are several decent restaurants as the town is a theater center. We like the Theater Krause restaurant among others. Best sights are the Aschaffenburg royal palace and grounds, and the monastery church. It is a nice stop for a night. Good, lively shopping district.

From Aschaffenburg, you can take an ICE direct to Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof for 21€/adult (over 14 yo, under 15 free). It will take about 45 min. You can also take an RE to Frankfurt Hbf and the S-Bahn from there to the Regionalbhf at the airport. The hourly connection takes about 1¼ hr. An RMV ticket will cost you 11,60€/adult, 6,95€ child.
