Hi! I'm planning to visit Munich in early December. Does anyone have any recommendations for tobogganing that is easily accessible by train? I do not want to rent a car and I am hoping to make a day trip from Munich.
Your challenges are twofold:
1) in early December, snow cover is not guaranteed, and you need snow to go tobogganing.
And the mountains in that part of Europe are lower in altitude than in, say, France or Italy.
2) the most likely places to have snow are the mountains. Mountains are not necessarily
easy to get to directly by train.
Having said that, you might research Kitzbuhel, which is probably a couple of hours by
train (with a connection) and drops you in town. Also Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is
around 90 minutes by train.
Note that tobogganing in that part of the world is also called rodelling, the sled is a little
wooden thing and it's mostly for kids and adults who have imbibed a bit.
Here is something that will get you started from the Munich tourism board.

Snow cover in early December is quite iffy, even on the Zugspitze, except at the higher altitudes. The glacier run on Zugspitze should be open. Check the snow conditions before leaving Munich.
As others have said, there is almost no chance for there to be enough snow for sledding in early December.
That said, if there is snow, the best is probably the Walberg Rodelbahn. 6.5km is sled run via a cable car up (no hiking). Take the BRB train to Tegernsee and then connect to the bus that loops around the lake to the cable car station.

You can reach the Zugspitze by train. Just take it from Munich to Garmisch, and then the local train to the top of the mountain from the center of town. You can sled at the top, they even rent little one person sleds. You can do this year round.
