I went to the German History museum today to find the permanent exhibition is closed for an undisclosed amount of time. Only two small exhibitions on Karl Marx and Wagner are open in the small PEI building behind it. Sigh. I was really looking forward to it.

The website of the Germany History Museum says the main building will be closed "probably until the end of 2025".
I've had no problem going to less-well-known museums on free days. There usually aren't all that many museums in a city that everyone is just dying to go to on the free day. It's the ones we all knew about before we even opened a guidebook that are a problem.
