Thoughts for Germany itinerary

Hi,

I hope you are well and safe.

I will be be entering Dresden from Prague in September. From there I plan on going to Leipzig, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and then finally spend a week in Munich and ending Germany with Oktoberfest.

From there I will head to Budapest.

Thoughts? Is there something I should not miss or avoid because it's not worth it.?

A couple of questions. How many days will have from your first day in Dresden until your last day in Munich to see all of these cities? What interests do you have and what are you hoping to see in each city? If you gave a bit more information about your German timeframe and interests, I think you’d get more helpful information for your trip.

In addition to your personal interests, the number of days you will have in Germany prior to Munich is an important factor.

Something you missed? All kinds of wonderful places. Your current picks indicate an interest in bigger cities that were leveled in WW II and later rebuilt. So you are of course missing out on certain places which mostly survived the war, places where you can get a glimpse of old-world Germany.

Something to avoid? I can only assume that you picked places you think should not be avoided.

Maybe take a look at Rick Steves' itinerary-planning ideas on other worthwhile places:

Great that you are including both Leipzig and Dresden in the itinerary, both very significant culturally and historically. Hopefully you've earmarked ample time to see and explore these two cities in particular. I've explored more of Dresden, ie, the usual sights by guided tour and solo. Leipzig requires far more time if you intend to see the various museums, houses and other singular sights connected to the city's music history.

Unlike Dresden in 1945, US troops got to Leipzig in April 1945 and took it.
