Hello everyone-
I have some friends who will be in Munich for the opening weekend of Oktoberfest and then traveling down to Garmisch . They will be there for 5 days and are wondering about possible day trips from there. One day they plan to do the Zugspitze, but other than that their itinerary is open at this point. Any suggestions? They are a group of 10. Thank You.

The Ettal Abbey is worth a visit, and somewhere nearby is a cheese factory you can visit. Sorry maybe someone can come up with the name. The town of Mittenwald is also worth visiting.

If you like to hike, we did a two day hike up to the top of the Zugspitze (no mountain climbing, just hiking). It was great, we stayed in a hutte the one night sleeping in our clothes.

Google Oberammergau and see if it holds interest for you. Lovely village where the Passion Play is presented every ten years. A good day trip from Garmisch.
