The Grand Dough, a new kind of hotel

Germans love bread and also baking it from their own dough. But widely beloved sour dough needs a regular care. So what to do when planning travels?

When people go on vacation, they make arrangements for their dogs, plants - and, it seems, their sourdough starter as well. Germany’s first sourdough hotel has opened in Kiel. There, visitors’ sourdough starters are fed and cared for according to a specific schedule.

Fully agree.

Good bread is one of the things German expats miss most in their interim home countries. In some 4-5 star hotels in the world I asked myself how they can call the breakfast offering bread? Last time I remember this impression was in Bergen, Norway. I do not care for a design hotel if this is not taken care of. Design is around the using people, the other is just style caring for itself.

Pentecost Monday is a holiday in Germany. Yesterday there were lanes of people, including me, standing at Junge bakeries here in the North. Their sandwiches are also great.
