Military Retirees, just in case you missed it the first time around, Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is now available to US retirees again after being not available for several years. This isn't a match for everyone, but I think that everyone who is eligible should at least know about it and make their own decisions.
Glad to see them do this, though are certainly cheaper options in Garmisch. The rooms are lovely with 2 huge beds in each one as well as a balcony and the scenery is fantastic. For some people, this is going to be an ideal hotel.
For those who want to just speak English and pay for everything in dollars, it is perfect. They have lots of tours available, laundry, swimming pool, hot tubs. The food is the biggest disappointment. Overpriced and less than average on taste. Ya have to like kids too as the place is over-run with them which can be quite loud at times.
