Testing and Clearing Customs in Germany

Does anyone know how long it takes to clear customs in Germany when traveling direct from the US? We are flying Condor Air from Anchorage to Frankfurt and have 4 hours before our next flight leaves for Santorini, Greece and hope that’s enough time to get our bags, clear customs and recheck them to Santorini. Wasn’t sure if Covid testing was required or just on the way back home to the US. Any feedback, online resources or recent experience at Frankfurt airport or other airports in Germany would be greatly appreciated!

As a rule of thumb it's pretty fast; you should be more than fine if your documents are in order and you aren't declaring anything, even with Covid. Our flights from the US (via Frankfurt in January and Amsterdam last summer) were MUCH tighter connections--1,5-2 hours--and we still had time for food and such. We were always on a single reservation / not changing airlines (Lufthansa in January, KLM last year), but it shouldn't make much difference if you aren't.

Unless you are delayed by more than two hours I wouldn't stress it.

Customs is for goods and luggage. Immigration is for passport control.

You will go through immigration/passport control in Frankfurt and customs in Santorini.

If your flights are all on one ticket from the US to Santorini, then you will not see your bags until Santorini.

After exiting Passport Control in Frankfurt, do you still have to go through security to continue your EU flights OR can you now remain airside through the whole process, as you can when landing in Munich?
