Ten for spas and culture!

Hi everyone:
I'm planning about ten days in Germany next March. I've settled on the Southern to Southwestern quadrant roughly from Frankfurt to Munich and west.

Right now I'm trying to find a general area to headquarter, rather than spending too many days in transit, although a few hubs would be ok, if necessary.

Can anyone suggest a place to focus? Ultimately, I'd a great mixture of spas (thermes, with more of an emphasis on baths and spas and less on waterslides) but with enough culture (food, art, museums) to keep me occupied. The hot water is the main draw, though!

Any town with the word Bad in it.
Try Bad Homburg, Bad Nauheim, Bad Soden, Wiesbaden, Baden-Baden.
Bad Homburg especially, has a lot to see in the town, like the original palace of the Kaiser, the Kurpark, Casinos, and the near-by Hessen Park Open Air Musuem and the Saalburg Roman Fort.

We really enjoyed staying a few days in Baden-Baden. Nice small town with several spa/warm baths and plenty to see in the town. Like: Baden-Baden Casino and Hohenbaden Old Castle, take the steepest funicular in Europe to the Merkur Mountain, etc.

A lot of the towns around lake Constance are nice, old and a couple have spas. Look at Meersburg, Ueberlingen, Konstanz, Lindau, for example.
You could go from Frankfurt down the Rhine, and head for Munich from the lake.

I’d like to find a convenient “base” from which I could do day trips.

I'm no spa guy. But based on my conversations with spa/wellness folks I know, I think you should take a careful look at Therme Bad Wörishofen. It's SW of Munich, not far from Augsburg and Landsberg am Lech, and the UNESCO World Heritage Wieskirche. Ottobeuren is also nearby and well known for it's abbey and concerts:

Any town with the word Bad in it.

This sentence can be very misleading and does not guarantee what will match to the search. Not every "Bad" has a spa because not every "Bad" has a spring or water based curation resources; some have special air (Luftkurort) or other nature resources / treatment conditions.
