Taxi service to Hinterbrand lodge in berchtesgaden

Hi

We are staying at Hinterbrand Lodge in Berchtesgaden this July. The lodge is located halfway up a mountain side about 20 minutes from town. We will not have private vehicles (we are traveling to town via train). There are 3 ways up to the lodge - each with varying degrees of difficulty.

I would like to know if anyone has experience with the local taxi's.

1) can they handle the steep roads?
2) can you call and arrange rides in advance?
3) any suggestions for a private car our tour service?

Thanks!!

I've taken taxis from the Berchtesgaden Hbf, but not to Hinterbrand so I don't know what the road is like.

The roads in July will be fine, there may even be a local bus from the train station to the Hinterbrand parking lot (RVO line). I don't know how long you will be staying but it appears to be quite a remote location without your own mode of transportation, unless your primary goal is to do a lot of hiking?

That's line #838, the line going from the Hbf to the documentation center and the Kehlsteinhaus ("eagles nest") bus stop.

The RVO map of bus lines in Berchtesgaden shows the 838 bus going to Christophorusschule with a possible stop at Dürreck and a dotted line (without a bus number) from Dürreck to Hinterbrand. I think the dotted line is a hike. If I put in Berchtesgaden Hbf to Vorderbrandstr. 95 (the address of Hinterbrand Lodge) into the Bahn site, it says to take the 838 bus to Dürreck, then walk about a mile (1,7 km), 24 minutes, to the Lodge. I'm not quite sure why it says to walk from Dürreck to the Lodge, it looks like the hike would be shorter if you went all the way to Christophorusschule.

Thanks for the info. My understanding is the Lodge is now run by the US Military. We have family in the military there and they are reserving it for our visit with them. I can try to get a contact name for you
