Taking OTC and Prescription Medicine into Germany

I will be flying into Frankfurt and need to know how best to travel with my medications. Am I able to just put them in a pill container? Do I need copies of the prescriptions? What about OTC mediations?

OTC like Aspirin and stuff is not a problem. We bring in Tums, Aspirin, Excedrin, Ibuprofen, and vitamins in large quantities (e.g. two bottles of 500 pills) pretty much every time we visit the US, and our family have done so for decades.

But yes, always follow official regulations.

I have taken prescription medication into Germany and have never had any problems. I do not bring the original pill containers. Instead, I put them in small ziploc bags that are clearly labeled. Plus I can access all my Rx info on My Chart if needed. If you don't want to do that, you could have your pharmacy print out extra labels for you, and keep them in small containers.

OTC meds are pretty much the same. I packed them in small ziplocks and labeled them clearly.

That said, if you are carrying any narcotic drugs, such as opioids, narcotic drugs, etc, I would definitely bring the original pill container.
