Looking at the nonstop Lufthansa flight from Krakow to Munich. I noticed there are different categories per flight: eco light, eco classic & 2 others. How strict are they with the free carry on of 55x40x20 cm, 18 lbs? Do you suggest paying for the check in luggage while booking? What is your experience with Lufthansa & what booking site/s do you recommend? Has anyone used Trip.com?

If they say one bag 18 lb, assume they mean it. If you want to check a bag up to 50 lb, use the eco classic fare and you can also bring that 18 lb carry-on and pick your seat.
If I am booking a flight on Lufthansa, I use the Lufthansa booking site.

We have taken many a Lufthansa flight, long haul and connecting in Europe. We have a pair of RS convertibles bags. They are on our backs. We have never been asked to size or weigh them. We do check the weight ebfore we leave home, to make sure that we are not over the 8 kg (or really close to it, pulling our pads and camera would always bring it under anyway)
