Taking GU Along With Me?

Dear Folks,

Are there any runners among my friends here? If so, I hope you can answer a question for me: I'm training for a marathon coming up in March and while I'm home (Rothenburg o d Tauber) I want to continue my training. For that, I use an energy gel called GU (link is here: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/GUU001/gu-energy-gel-24-pack/ ) which comes in small ALUMINUM packages. I already know I'll have a tough time finding it there, so I'm thinking of taking about 20 packs along with me.

Is this going to "fly" (so to speak) with TSA?

Other option is having it shipped to one of my friends from Amazon.de.

Thanks, all!

UPDATE: No GU on Aamazon.de. Similar stuff yes, but I've been through most of them, and that is my preference.

Bill

Gu...the necessary evil. It shouldn't be a problem as long as it fits in your qt-size bag as it's a gel. Any excess will have to go in a checked bag.

Thank you, Zeeba. I'm one of those people who travels with only a carry-on, so I guess the baggie will be the way to go, right? I'll just use some Fig Newtons (or whatever they have that's close) which I can buy while I'm there) or something with honey. It won't hurt me to go a few days without the GU. After all, I'm not addicted to the stuff (even though I have an Amazon subscription for it - LOL!)

Thanks again

Bill

Looks like each packet is under 3.4 oz/100 ml, which is the other requirement for items in your 1-quart ziplock.

P.S. Strangely, many spammers do mark their posts for staff response!
