Taking a train from Frankfurt to Bingen

After 3 days in Frankfurt, planning to take a train to Bingen. Then taking the Bingen-Rudesheimer line to St. Goar where we'll stay for a few days. Since we'll have luggage, does anyone know how far it is from the train to the Bingen-Rudesheimer line? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you take the train to Bingen STADT, not Bingen Hbf, then the docks are less than 1/4 mile away from the station. If you end up at Bingen Hbf, then it's 1/2 mile, so no big deal either.

The docks are only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the station.

Though since you will be in St. Goar a few days, you might consider just staying on the train to St Goar, get settled, then either catch the boat there, or train back to a starting point, without bags, and cruise back.

It seems likely that you will want to visit Bacharach and/or Oberwesel (both south of St. Goar) during your stay - which will require a train ride back to the south. So if you prefer not to mess with your luggage on the boat, it might make sense for you to take the train from Frankfurt to St. Goar directly on that first Rhine day and check in. Then later, whenever you visit Bacharach, continue south after your visit there just a few more miles by train to Bingen - and take an afternoon cruise ship back to St. Goar. B-R's cruise boats to St. Goar are somewhat skimpy, but KD has boats as late as 16:30 from Bingen for most of the tourist season.
