Switching trains at Munich HBF

Looking at some train schedules to go from Fussen to Salzburg it says:

Arrive Munich HBF GL.27-36 at 12:05 PM.
Walk 10 min.
Depart Munich 12:17 PM.

Is this saying you have to walk 10 minutes to another train station to get on the next train that goes to Salzburg, or is it saying you have 10 minutes to get aboard the connecting train?

Starts off in Fussen with RE 57507 and changes to an EC 113.

Thanks in advance for help!

The Munich Starnberger Bahnhof (tracks 27 - 36) is a "wing" bahnhof attached to the north side of the main part of the Hbf. It's a short walk from the main tracks.

As long as you don't dally, twelve minutes is plenty of time.

Thank you very much Lee and Sam for the helpful information!

One more question I thought of. When it says you can buy a Sparpreis ticket (instead of more expensive Flexpreis) and commit to the specific train, does that include committing to the exact time of that train?

A Sparpreis ticket commits you to an exact train (date and time). Kind of like flying.

I don't know how you are doing this, with a rail pass or with a Savings Fare (Sparpreis) or with point to point tickets, but I would probably do the entire trip with a Bayern-Ticket and regional trains. That would give you almost an hour to change trains in Munich and you could get a bit of lunch in the food court as you changed trains.

Lee, I am trying to figure out what passes to use for Switzerland and Germany. I did notice that within our days in Germany (only in Bavaria and Salzbug) that getting the Bayern Ticket would be the best since it includes Salzburg. Currently adding up all train rides we will be taking. Probably getting the Swiss 1/2 fare card for Switzerland.

Thanks again for the input!

10 minutes is the time DB estimates for everyone with normal walking abilities to transfer from the Starnberger Bahnhof to the main hall. I do that often and, in spite of my aversion against any kind of sports, do it in 5 minutes. After deboarding the Füssen train keep right for a few meters to get into the main hall, then turn left and follow the northernmost track inside the hall to reach the central platform.

Take my 2 cents for what it's worth, but I found the Munich HBF confusing to navigate. We were in a rush to get to our train to Salzburg so that probably accounted for some of it, plus it's a big place. I've taken trains in the US and quite a few places in Europe and Munich was probably the most challenging I've encountered. If you can extend your connection time a little, you might be happier.
