Suggestions for meals in Frankfurt on a Sunday?

Hi folks,

I will be in Frankfurt on my own on Sunday while my travel companions go to the NFL game. I know museums are open and that is my plan for the day but I just realized I don‘t know what my options will be for lunch or dinner. Are restaurants open? I just assumed they would be. Or a place to pick up a sandwich? We are staying at the Adina Neue Oper so I will have access to a kitchen. Should I just plan on grabbing a few items on Saturday?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are restaurants open in Frankfurt on Sundays. Like many European cities there are also many closed, but we have successfully found what we needed on Sunday. What I often do is plug my hotel name into Google Maps and start browsing the nearby restaurants to check hours. Always double-check on their website and do a walk by the day prior, if you can, to ensure the hours are correct online.

You are more likely to find restaurants open on a Sunday than on a Monday!

Sunday is a day for doing things with people--museums, parks, going out to eat. It is NOT a day for running errands--groceries, offices, shopping. Monday is when restaurants, mostly smaller, family-run restaurants are often closed. Incidentally, this applies to smaller museums as well.

Restaurants do a booming business on Sundays!
If you would like to try a typical Frankfurt meal, head over to Alt Sachsenhausen and have the Frankfurt Green Sauce on potatoes or a Frankfurt Schnitzel. Try Dauth-Schneiders, or Lorsbacher Thal. For dessert, try a Frankfurter Kranz.
There are. few small Christmas markets open already. One is on top of the parking garage near the Konstablerwache, another one is about 1 block off of the Zeil if you walk down Hasengasse past the Kleinmarkthalle, and a tiny one is at the end of the Eisener Steg bridge. They are only doing food and drinks, but still fun. They will open around 1400 or 1600.
The Kleinmarkthalle is open on Sat. until 1600 and they have a nice wine and grill party outside of it on Saturdays. There is also a large Farmers market on Sat. on the Konstablerwache. Open until 1700.

Not sure which museums you are going to, but my recommendations are the Judengasse Museum, the Städel, the Film Museum, the Liebieg Haus, and the Jewish Museum.
Almost all of the museums are closed on Mondays.
