We will be in the Dolomites and then plan to visit Vienna, Prague and then into Germany probably to Nuremberg and Dresden before ending up in Berlin.
We have 10 nights before we need to be in Berlin and wondering the best way to do this.
1.) train from Bolzano to Vienna (via Innsbruck?) then spend 4 days in Vienna
then train to Prague for 2 nights, then to Nuremberg for 2 nights and day trip to Rothenburg and then head to Dresden for 2 nights and then Berlin.
We wanted to do all by train unless that seems unreasonable. Any help with these plans as far as trains go or accommodations?
2.) Any other suggestions for a better itinerary?

Seems like you are spending 2 nights in Nürnberg just to take a day trip to Rothenburg. Spend the two nights in Rothenburg instead and see it after all the tourist leave. If you want to go by train, it's about 6½ hours from Prague to Rothenburg taking the EX/ALX train to Nürnberg. One (Franz Kafka, EX 354) leaves at 9:15 from hl.n. (you'll change trains in Schwandorf). You can purchase a Bayern-Ticket (27€ for 2 people) online from the Bahn website and it will cover your travel from Furth im Wald to Rothenburg. Czech Rail tickets from Prague to Furth will cost about 267 Kc (10€) each.
There is a Bahn Intercity bus from Prague to Nürnberg, but the full fare is about 53€ per person. With sufficient pre-purchase (up to 92 days) online, you might get non-refundable Saving Fare tickets for the bus as low as 38€ (19€ per person). The bus would save you a little over an hour, but would still have to purchase tickets for the trains from Nürnberg to Rothenburg. A VGN Tagesticket Plus, for 17,50€, will cover 2 people from Nürnberg Hbf to Rothenburg.
You can also get Savings Fare tickets all the way from Prague to Rothenburg, but the best price appears to be 58€ for 2 (on the same bus with 38€ for 2 tickets for the bus only.
If you do spend the two nights in Nürnberg, the VGN Tagesticket Plus will cover your round trip travel to Rothenburg for 17,50€ for the day.
