Hello! I'm exploring transportation options (a new direction from an earlier post) and would appreciate some advice. We're flying into Stuttgart on a September Saturday and heading to our first night destination in Bad Wimpfen. We could rent a car at the Stuttgart airport and head north (braving the crazy traffic on a Saturday morning) up the 27 to our destination in Bad Wimpfen. OR, we could take the train to Heilbronn and rent a car there (there seem to be several rental agencies near the train station). Drive to Bad Wimpfen. (Despite some of the helpful advice I received on another topic posting, we won't be going to Ludwigsburg Palace.) I'm learning to read the DB Bahn and need to figure out the B-W ticket if we go the train route (Russ!) Danke!
Took this route many times to and from Stuttgart. It's a well travelled train route and the train stops at both Heibronn and Bad Wimpfen.
The cheapest fare on a Saturday would be a Metropol Tages Ticket. Buy from a vending machine to get the best price. 2 people on a Saturday would be 24 euro total. This is slightly less than the B-W ticket, since it only covers the Stuttgart metropolitan area, of which Heilbronn is part.
