Stuttgart Oktoberfest - reservations needed?

We are going to the Cannstatter Volksfest after the Munich Oktoberfest and want to know if we need reservations to get into the tents or if as a couple we can just go in and find empty seats as we do in Munich. Are there non-reserved sections? Couldn't find that info on the website. Are there open biergartens attached to the tents as well?

We had no issue finding a wide choice of tables, but we went during the week. They do have a huge opening weekend, that I would say a table would be tough to get.

We'll be there Monday the 2nd through Wedneday the 4th and have flexibility between afternoon and evening so sounds like we should be good.

Tuesday October 3rd is the German national holiday. Many Germans take a "Brückentag" (bridge day) on Monday which is an extra day off to bridge the day between the weekend and the holiday. That will be a reason for masses of people to go to the fest. I would go on Wednesday.

Good catch, forgot about that. Will need to check and see if that will impact other activities as well. Thanks!

I am going during the day on Friday, 6 October. I decided not to purchase a ticket in advance as it looks like there are plenty of unsold seats in a number of tents.
