Stuttgart area camping and traveling from denmark to Italy through Germany

We will be traveling from Denmark to Venice with our camper (trailer) in July. Does anyone have advice about traffic through Germany?

We hope to stay in the Stuttgart area for two nights at least on our way there or back. We have three kids(5,8,17). Any suggestions?

We plan the trip around the kids. Family fun is a must and best routes with little traffic issues desired!
Thanks,
Kelly

I don't think you answered this in your other thread. How long do you hope to take on your journey south - and north - and how long do you want in Venice?

Are you planning on parking in Fusina and sleeping in your caravan? Or would you park and leave and spend the time in Venice? As you have never been there (my favourite city in the world so far) how long do you project the Venice stop to be? Will you leave the caravan and explore other parts of the Veneto?

Are both of you drivers on the trip? EU licences?

The size, height and weight of your rig will affect your motorway costs. What class is your rig in Denmark? Height?

As you travel, do you want to cover the distance quickly, so using Autobahns and Autostrada a lot, or do you want to take your time using mainly "B" roads which will be more scenic but considerably slower, with roundabouts, 50kph town and village speed limits (sometimes as low as 30 or kph, single carriageways and everything that a rural route involves?

I'm sorry for so many questions but they are all important. If we can pin you down a bit we can offer much better answers.

From Flensburg, the first town in Germany after the Danish border, it's a little bit more than 800 kms (500 miles) to Stuttgart. Depending on where in Denmark you start this can add up to about 1,200 kms. With a trailer there is a speed limit of 80 kms/h in Germany, even on the autobahns. That's why you can never ever do that in one day. But apart from this the shortest route is the A 7 via Hamburg, Hannover, Kassel to Würzburg, then the A 3 in the direction of Frankfurt for a short distance and then the A 81 to Stuttgart. There is hardly a chance of having no traffic issues. The greater Hamburg area (tunnel under the Elbe river), the greater Hannover and Würzburg areas and Stuttgart itself (the Stauhauptstadt of Germany [capital of traffic jams]) are very prone to traffic
line-ups. If you can travel on a Sunday, do so, because trucks may not drive on Sundays. The ones you see nevertheless have a special permission.
There is a lot to see and do in and around Stuttgart, but it's best to leave your car somewhere and use the excellent public transportation system. For further information have a look at

If you have at least two more days you can travel all or part of the Deutsche Märchenstraße (German Fairy Tale Route) from Bremen to Hanau (east of Frankfurt [Main]). This touristic road goes from north to south (or vice versa) and lies a bit west of the main autobahn route (if not taking the ferry from Gedser to Warnemünde) from Denmark to southern Germany. https://www.deutsche-maerchenstrasse.com
