The trade union Ver.di has called for further strikes by employees in the aviation security sector. Strikes are to take place in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart, among other places.

Update (Wed morning): HAMburg and STuttgaRt airport cancelled all departures for Thursday. ColoGNe and BERlin write about massive impact on departures and recommend to check flight details with airlines. I do not know how they will handle any security checks for departing flights - maybe federal border police (Bundesgrenzschutz) is doing a few security checks personally replacing their striking contractors?

The coordinated strikes of the cabin crews, ground crews and security staff at airports throughout Germany and the strike by railway workers at Deutsche Bahn along with Bus drivers is making this week look more like a transportation General Strike.

We do everything to strengthen our weak domestic car industry. Just kidding.

It is not easy for all kind of travellers to reach their destinations reliably.

There are also some small good news but less relevant for international travellers: On Wednesday night, the employees of public bus companies in state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the united services union ver.di reached an agreement in the wage dispute.

Update: Security staff of Hanover Airport is requested to strike on Friday. "For this reason, there will be no regular flight operations at Hannover Airport on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 00:00 to 12:00. Arrivals are not affected by this." Maybe other airports are also affected on Friday - situation is unclear at the moment.
