Strike against Lufthansa on Mar 12 in FRA and Mar 13 in MUC (cabin crews)

The cabin crew union UFO (Independent Flight Attendants' Organization) has called on the approximately 19,000 flight attendants at Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cityline to strike on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to UFO, all departures from Frankfurt on Tuesday and all departures from Munich on Wednesday will be on strike from 4 am to 11 pm.

This is not good news. Since Lufthansa reached agreement in August with its Pilots’ Unions and boosted their pay 18 percent, I thought the company would have new agreements with its other employee unions by now. .

Between this and the rail strike March 12, not a lot is going to be moving in Germany today or through the weekend. Cabin crews are also going on strike this week. Then it will take days to get back on schedule when planes and trains need to be repositioned.

At just the time Americans are making decisions about their 2024 summer vacations and— if their plans include flying— they’ll be looking at ticket prices and the airlines selling them. And Lufthansa will be in the news.

Just as info: There is an inner-European airport, airline and flight network which is somehow disconnected to the intercontinental airport and flight network. A good example is London as hub with Heathrow LHR as large international airport and - besides other airports - Stansted STN which is connected to other European low-cost airports. These are approached by Ryanair, Wizz, Easyjet and so on.

For example you can consider smaller airports such as Memmingen (FMM) to reach Munich. The Flixbus connection will bring you into the center of Munich within 80 minutes.

So my recommendation to travellers is to search "flights to initially reach Europe" in a different way to "flying within Europe".
