Staying near Berlin Ostbahnhof

I am planning a trip to Europe in December. For one leg of the trip, we will train back from Wroclaw to Berlin for one night, before flying to Iceland the next day. My hotel reservation is for the Moxy near Berlin Ostbahnhof. My rationale was that it is close to the train station, and it is also a short train ride to the Berlin airport for our departure. Does anyone have any insight about this area, or has anyone stayed at this hotel? I should also mention that we are a family of four, and it was somewhat challenging to find a hotel room for four people. We will have stayed in Berlin for the first leg of our trip (before Poland), so my priorities are staying somewhere convenient, safe, and with some good restaurant options nearby. Thanks in advance!

I live less than 2 kilometres from Ostbahnhof.
The Moxy is close but also directly near the railroad line. Other hotels like Schulz or Meininger (both family oriented) or Amano shall be a litlle bit quieter. The area around Ostbahnhof has not many restaurants. Options are driving with bus 240 to area around Boxhagener Platz, with bus 300 to Mercedes-Benz-Platz or (if stay is before Dec 24) visiting a Christmas market. Closer than Boxhagener Platz: Restaurant Jäger & Lustig (line 240) is also a very good German food restaurant. If you like Italian kitchen Trattoria Portofino is the place to go.

In the morning bakery Haßelbach is a good and affordable breakfast option.

Another option is to stay around S-Bahnhof Friedrichstraße or S-Bahnhof Hackescher Markt (one change of train necessary).

For me, it would be all about arrival time from Wroclaw and next day departure time to Iceland - it may be in your best interests to just stay at a BER located hotel and grab something to eat at one of those.

Nothing special about staying near Ostbahnhof UNLESS you have enough free time to add Oberbaumbrücke and/or U Schlesisches Tor and/or Treptower Park to your sightseeing list.
