Stay in Memmingen or Fussen?

What I tell everyone that goes to Neuschwanstein, go to Hohenschwangau first. Hohenschwangau is just across the street, fully furnished and the tour provides a lot of information about the family.

Thank you! We are planning to go there as well and also Linderhof and Ettal monastery. I think we won’t do official tours at all of these places due to time. Was thinking of a quick lake ride at Hallstatt. Do you think we are jamming in too many things for two days and one night?

Would love to tour at least Neuschwanstein and Hoschwangu.

Yes! I spent most of the day, at least six hours, at Linderhof. The official tour of the house takes only a few minutes, the grounds are beautiful.

If you are not going to spend the time really seeing a place, why bother. Seems to me you are only interested in adding names to a list of places you can say you've "been to".

Quality, not quantity.

Wake up early head to Neuschwanstein and then to Switzerland via
Bergenz.

Lindau

If you have a car, look at staying in Schwangau or Horn. We stayed at the Hotel Waldmann. Parking was free and they have a restaurant. less than a 5 minute drive to the parking lots for the both castles.

To do both N'Stein and Hohenschwangu, you will need a minimum of 3-4 hours. We ended up spending almost all day there.
