My husband and I will be staying in St. Goar in a couple of weeks. We will be taking a train into St. Goarhausen and ferry over to St. Goar. Later that evening (it is on a Saturday) I was hoping to go to Rudesheim for dinner and music. We are travelling by train so I believe the latest train ride from Rudesheim back to St. Goarhausen is 10pm, how late does the ferry operate? Is it simple enough to get a taxi from Rudesheim to St. Goar? Just wondering how we can manage a late evening in Rudesheim. Thanks!

According to the time table of the Loreley ferry the last ferry from St. Goarshausen leaves 22:30. You would have to depart from Rüdesheim at 21:06 to catch it (overlay almost 1 hour). So I'd consider taking a taxi from Rüdesheim over to Bingen Hbf (3km, will certainly not break the bank). There are trains from Bingen Hbf to St Goar at 22:16 and 23:32.

Have you checked the ferry schedule for Rüdesheim to Bingen to see how late it runs?

I missed the ferry from Rudesheim to St. Goarhausen not by design. A local taxi was able to get us to St.Goarhausen to catch the ferry back over to St. Goar. I do not know the last crossing so check the schedule Ms Jo posted.

The schedule appears to be either 930pm or 1100pm and changes June with later times.

The ferry from Rüdesheim to Bingen runs until 22:00, every 20 min. Take that and then you can train from Bingen back to St. Goar.

Don't confuse the ships with the ferries. Ferries just take cars and people across the river in 3 or 4 locations between Mainz and Koblenz, due to there being no bridges. Ships take you up and down the Rhein.
