specific train trip on the rhine could you look it over and see if I got it right so I can book?

I need to book some trains.

Main question: ******Saturday September 16 Bacharach to Mainz to Basel to Lucern found what I want on DB site - book on this db website ? ************ want to lock this part up today if so bc they have what i need and the price seems good at 79. in reading I've seen a lot of things about extra fees, certain codes to use, websites not to use etc.

other questons
What website is best for me to book the following and please tell me any tricks. I have seen workarounds for raileurope and have been told not to trainline-sncg.eu. (though these site might just apply to other parts of my trip) and some said said to use en.voyages-sncf.coom Please also tell me if these assumptions are true below
1) dropping off rental car and going Mainz to Bingen one way - can just book this at the station - want to catch KD boat - can buy KD boat at the dock

2) One day will be using the train on the Rhine to get around fm Bacharach to see Marksburg Castle then to St Goar to see that castle and back to Bacharach and if any extra time and you think worth it may drop by Oberwesel but will really be one day (and a half a day the day before which I will just purchase fare as needed bc won't be going a bunch of places ) For the full day to multiple cities thought the Rheinland-Pfalz Ticket would save?
I can just get these tickets for these trains when I am there no need to buy ahead?
thanks in advance

trainline-sncg.eu.

  1. No such website, but https://www.trainline.eu/ is perfectly legit and a good site to use. I tend to go with DB when I can.
I am seeing prices as low as 39.90 EUR, and 69.90 EUR 1st class for Sept 16.

  2. A Rhindland-Pfalz Ticket would do the trick. Buy out of a ticket automat or pay an extra 2 EUR. Travel after 9 am weekdays and stick to regional trains, no ICE, IC, or EC trains.

thanks. yes I see now that I have some typos including an extra o in a .com and also that problem with
the trainline typo in the website when I was typing it - lots going on here. I need a vacation ! haha oh, yeah...
I had read some negative things about trainline....

I'll check it out or buy directly if I can from db site. i prefer to buy directly from the carrier if possible most of the time.

When we travelled Europe a few years ago, we always booked our German train travels through the DB Bahn web site, and used it to check all our train journeys for other countries as well as its linked to all the other train companies so its like a one stop site for us. We even downloaded the DB iPhone app and used that constantly.
So yes we found the DB site to be extremely good and easy to use. Even though we had a Eurail Pass so didn't need to buy a ticket as such, we would always reserve our seats so as not to miss out seeing it was still sort of peak travel time when we went. And then we would just print off our seat reservation tickets at our hotel...
