All,
We are planning a trip. We are thinking 12-14 days, and we are thinking middle of November (i.e. 8-21). We will fly into Munich and fly out of Venice. Ok, so here is my ideas. Munich and surrounding cities/towns or stop in black forest on the way to Switzerland. Then in Switzerland we were thinking somewhere like Lucerne or Bernese then over to Venice maybe stop in the Dolomites. My questions;
1. Is that enough time to get to those countries?
2. Any suggestions to add or remove stops are welcome.
3. Just any overall ideas would be great. i.e weather etc..
No comment on your destinations but your fly home date is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. While that Wednesday is the worst, I'd probably opt to move your whole trip forward by a day or two to avoid flying that close to Thanksgiving.
November is usually not a good time for mountain excursions. This is one of the transitional times of the year where the weather is too wet and unstable to safely hike, but not snowy enought to ski. It's usually quite overcast. And the lifts may not even run.
most folks returning to the US from Venice find that their first connecting flight from Marco Polo airport is vvvvveeeeerrrrrryyyyy early in the morning which causes all sort of problems.
Conventional wisdom is to fly into Venice and fly out of elsewhere.
What time would your flight be?
Can you consider doing your trip in reverse?
