Some help with a few more train tickets

I so much appreciate all the help that has been given to me about my train travel in Germany. I have a few more connections so just want to make sure I am on the right track.

From Nuremberg to Bamberg for two people (round trip, one day) is the Tagesticket best?

From Nuremberg to Munich for two people (one way) can we also use the Tagesticket or would the Bayern or point to point tickets another make more sense?

From Vilshofen to Munich for two people (one way) would we use the Bayern or a point to point ticket?

Do any of the tickets need to be bought in advance?

Thanks so much!

The Tagesticket Plus at price level 10 (€19.70.) Use only the regional trains.

The Tagesticket isn't valid to Munich. Buy a Bayern Ticket (€31/2) and use only the regional trains. It's valid at any hour on Sat or Sun, after 9 on weekdays. The Bayern ticket continues to be valid after your arrival in Munich on all public transport within Munich as well. Use it for Vilshofen-Munich as well.

Buy all tickets at the station. To pull up the regional train schedules at the DB site be sure to click on "only local transport" when you search.

Buying in advance is possible but not desirable - there are no refunds possible if you have a change of plans for whatever reason, and you get no price break or other advantage by pre-purchasing. Just use the ticket machines at the station.

Thank you, Russ. I knew you would know the answers. I really admire what you know of the German train system and your willingness to share that knowledge.

There are some day passes you COULD get for a couple of Euros less for those Bayern Ticket trips, but they will not provide you the free public transport around Munich once you arrive - so I didn't mention them for this reason and for the sake of simplicity.

Thank you, that is the kind of info I was hoping to find. It will be great to have the public transportation covered in Munich.

If you are not going to need further transport in Nürnberg or Munich, the Regio-Ticket München-Nürnberg is 3€ less (28€/2) than the Bayern-Ticket and includes the fast RE from Nürnberg to Munich.

With advance purchase, you could also get a 39,80€ (for 2) SparPreis ("savings fare") ticket for the non-stop ICE that makes the trip between Nürnberg and Munich in just a few minutes more than an hour. Also doesn't include local transport in Munich.
