Sleeping in munich (or around !)

Hi !

We,re gonna 4 nights in Munich in July. We're looking for a place to sleep the four of us ( 2 adults and 2 young kids of 4 and 8 years old). There's not much apartement on Home Away for Munich ( that's where we got our lodging for Berlin, Dreden and Nuremberg).

We wont something that would cost 150 Euro or less. We dont have to be in city center. We want to visit old town, the Deutches museum and do a daytrip to Garmisch. We could stay outside town if we can easily access the train (we wont have a car for the whole trip).

So if anyone could suggest us neighborhoods or small town not too far from Munich (which, we hope, would cost less than Munich Itself !) it would be appreciated !

We have stayed twice at Hotel Breckerspitze -- 2 star hotel about 2 miles from city center off S-bahn line, and they DO have 4-person rooms (with shared W/C and shower) in your price range with substantial German breakfast. Residential area, good restaurant downstairs, laundromat a few blocks away.

We stayed at the Hotel Anteres last summer. It isn't luxurious and the rooms are not huge but it was clean, the beds were comfortable, it was on a quiet street, and the price was right! The bathroom was very nice for a hotel of this caliber. A nice buffet breakfast came with the room. Not the best wi-fi. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the central square in Munich. I quickly checked the price for 4 people in July and it is 149 euros per night for the nights I checked. We were happy with this hotel and I'd stay there again!

Inside the old town, Münchnerkindl has a four bed room with bath for 100€, breakfast not included. I stayed there in 2013 and the bathrooms are very small and there is no elevator. Other than that, it is between Karlstor and Sendlingertor, about two blocks from the pedestrian zone that leads to Marienplatz.

Pension Lindner, also in the old town, has rooms for three for 130€ with bathroom, 105€ w/o. There are three beds, but they might be able to accommodate the 4 yo or he/she could sleep in the adult's bed. Write to them. I've never stayed there. It's a very short walk to Marienplatz.

About an hour away from the Munich Hbf by train is Landsberg am Lech. I stayed at Augsburger Hof for one night in 2007, and it was nice. The rooms as I remember were large. Their website shows a Ferienwohnung (apartment for 4 people) for 100€. They do serve breakfast for the rooms; it might also be included for the FeWo for that price; you'd have to write them and ask about that.

You might also want to look at Freising, on the north side of town, 20 minutes by bus from the airport, 45 min by S-Bahn from the Hbf. There are a lot of accommodations in town. Here is the town's accommodations brochure (in English).

Thanks for those suggetsions, we will have a good look at them !

Having to sleep in an accomodation who got shared bathrooms is not an option for us. We prefer to be farther or pay a bit more to have our own w/c !

Another vote for Pension Lindner. I've stayed there each of the last two years. Excellent location, very nice breakfast, friendly and helpful owner.

Pension Lindner would have been perfect but they are fully booked at our dates.

Some news about our search:

I've contacted all Motel one hotel we could find in Munich here's waht they offer me :

1) 2 rooms because of some regultions they cant allows 4 people in the same room

2) One room, the 4 years old sleep with us and the 8 years old sleep in another bed (or sleeping chair is not clear). Good deal since it's the one most in the center (Sedlinger Tor). They charge 94 Euro by night. They also told me (after I ask them why they allows 4 eople and other one wont) that we have to sign a discharge if there's an emrgency (that bug us a bit).

3) A family room in Motel one Munchen Sued for 119 Euro by night. They told us that that kind of room is only a bit larger than their standard room.

What would you do ?
