Hello.
We would like to take the City Night Line sleeper from Amsterdam to Dresden on a Sunday in October.
It leaves Amsterdam at about 19:00.
I have been checking www.bahn.de as to schedules/fares.
It does not show this sleeper for those Sundays in October. As a matter of fact the last one shown is for Sunday, August 17. After that the schedule indicates multiple connections.
I am perplexed. Does the sleeper not run this route after August 17?
Thanks for any info.
Fall schedules are just not confirmed yet. These usually go on sale three months in advance of the travel date and we don't expect that route to change. When/if CNL schedules get significant changes, it more commonly happens in December.
Looking at the DB website I see CNL train 457 which has comments which say:
runs not every day, 4. Jun until 22. Aug 2014; not 28., 29. Jun, 12., 13. Jul
which tells me its last day is the 22 August.
Looks like that night train might only run from Dortmund to Prague from August to December.
There are talks of withdrawn of this train after this summer. It had been operating on the red for years, as I read.
Hi,
I would suggest rearranging your travel to doing this route Amsterdam to Dresden by day since the CNL night train direct to Berlin is no longer an option. That way you change only one, thus avoiding the multiple changes as you pointed out. Take the early IC train Amsterdam to Berlin, then the EC train to Dresden. You'll arrive at Dresden Hbf. shortly before 17:00. Both legs are direct..
