Any recommendations for 2 cheap to reasonable nights in Frankfurt?
Thanks.
We liked Manhattan Hotel about 2 blocks from train station -- newly updated, helpful staff, good location near transportation.
According to the website for Manhatten Hotel in Frankfurt, the price is over 400€/night. I would not call that "cheap to reasonable". The last time I was in the area, I stayed at the Hotel Königshof in Mainz. It's at the other end of the S-Bahn line that goes from Frankfurt Hbf to Mainz Hbf, right across the Bahnhofsplatz from the Mainz Hbf. At 85€/night for a double, I would call that at least reasonable (for Mainz/Frankfurt). It's a nice hotel, with free Wifi and a great breakfast buffet.
It depends on when you will be there. If a trade fair is happening, that is the only time the Manhatten Hotel is going to cost 400 €.
@ Lee - Usually when a poster asks for information about a city, it is nice to give them information about that city and not tell them to go someplace else. We all know you love the Königshof and recommend it constantly, but this poster wants to stay in Frankfurt for 2 days. If you don't have information about Frankfurt, then you could have ignored this post and moved on.
If you will be there in summer, you might want a hotel with AC. We have had some bad heat waves this summer and just sleeping with the window open doesn't cut it. Check out Hamburger Hof, Ibis on the Friedensbrucke, Motel One on Hanauerlandstrasse, Holiday Inn Express Hauptbahnhof or Alte Oper, Hotel Miramar, Excelsior Hotel, Alexander am Zoo, or Adina Apts.
If your dates are not in the summer, you have more choices. Spener Haus, Beethoven Hotel, Hotel Goelz, Dirazi Gasthaus, Hotel am Berg, Hotel Metropol, Victoria Hotel, Hotel Nizza, Concorde Hotel, the Pure, the Corner Hotel.
I like Mainz too! But OK, you asked about Frankfurt..
2 nights WHERE in Frankfurt? It's a big place.
CHEAP: I stayed at Pension Alpha near the main railway station a while back. Under €50 for 2 with breakfast - and it's a nice breakfast. Very basic room was in an annex at the rear, uninspiring but clean and quiet, shared bath with 2-3 other rooms. Very easy walk from train to hotel.
By the way -- when we stayed at the Manhattan last January it was certainly not €400 ! The only time I have spent that much for a room it was in a hospital and included taking out body parts.
