Yeah that was my old post haha we are open to the area so I started this new thread. We will be there at the end of this month February for 4 days
The two best resorts in Germany are Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstodorf, both in the Bavarian Alps. My preference goes slightly to Oberstdorf for skiing because I've found the conditions more consistent in it's two main ski areas. Because one of the ski areas at GaP sits on top of the Zupspitze, the season there usually lasts longer, often well into May. However, it often gets very overcast on top of the mountain. The pistes aren't particularly challenging, but if you're not an experienced skier, it might be kind of hard if you can barely see.
Of the German resorts Oberstdorf is probably the best. It's close to Kempten, Neuschwanstein and even the Lake of Constance. It's in the heart of the Bavarian Alps and it's surrounded by various skiing mountains of all kinds of difficulty levels. In a good winter with plenty of snow you have free choice of 8, 9 different resorts/mountains. In a not-so-good winter you're dependent on altitude which Oberstdorf also can offer. Mt. Nebelhorn and Kleinwalsertal are very high up with guaranteed snow. Also by the way Kleinwalstertal is a valley on Austrian soil that's only accessibly from Germany. Their banks are particularly popular among the better-off Bavarians ;-)
Another vote for Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal. I think there are more places to ski there. Besides the big mountains just out of Oberstdorf, Kleinwalsertal has a number of cable cars going up to peaks on either side. Further, the Iller valley down to and including Immenstadt is lined with smaller lifts and easier slopes. I've stayed twice for a week during ski season in a little town called Fischen, and I was amazed at all of the slopes I could see from the Pension.
