Sixt rental car in Germany: yea or nay?

Yay. It has been one of the top, reliable European rental car companies for many years. We have used them many times throughout Europe.

Yea. Weve used them in France and Germany with no problem.

Sixt is the top rental car company in Germany.

We were happy with Sixt picking up and returning from Munich airport .

Yes. Most recently rented in Freilassing, returned in Bamburg. Easy pick up and return. We also received a complimentary upgrade; not sure why but we didn't argue!

Pretty much the only company I use in Germany.

used them once in croatia and was the worst experience we've ever had with a car company. Will never use them again.
Recommend being very thorough in your pre-inspection, take lots of photos of the car before you drive it off the lot.

One should be aware that in Southeastern Europe the major car rental companies use the franchising system and therefore one should not necessarily always expect the usual standard. In recent years, I have had vehicles from Sixt, Hertz, Avis and Enterpreise in Greece, which were all poor by Western European standards (in one case even dangerous because of worn tires). This says nothing about the quality of the rental companies in Germany.
