I’m a solo traveler and trying to find a room in the Cochem area at the end of August. It is during a festival, so I’m having trouble finding accommodation.
Can anyone here recommend how I might find a room? I’ve tried AirBnB and Booking.com, as well as the Mosel tourism site, without success. (I’m looking to spend no more than $75 for one night, and the room can be very basic.)

Nice simple place, steep walk from town on the way to the castle.
You might contact them to ask if they have a single rate.
You might look in nearby towns that dot the railway. It's only a few minutes on the train from Bullay to Cochem, for example. Neef and Ediger-Eller are in between and may have something.

Agree with Russ. Look nearby, especially if you alread have D-Ticket or other rail pass.
I am going to a festival in Forcheim. Few rooms there and they are already sold out. Staying in Nuremburg, about an hour away and with plenty of inexpensive rooms. I enjoy the hour ride each way.
