Will be in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for 2 nights in mid-September. Any advice for sightseeing? Thinking Zugspitze & Eibsee.
Less touristic if you have time visit the Wank mountan with the lift (a nice easy walk on top with great views) and the small but nice Reissersee (a quiet corner in Garmisch).
Its been >10 years since I've been there, but I recall visiting a cheese-making dairy plant, a monk-operated brewery, and the Weisskirche near there. All those on a day trip (by tour bus) from G-P. Your hotel should be able to steer you in the right direction. Two nights is not a lot of time, so maybe the Zugspitze and Elbsee will be enough to fill that time. Its a pretty enough town to enjoy on it's own.
Partnachlamm! Park at the Olympic stadium in Partenkirchen and walk down the road until you see the tiny gondola on the right. Take it up to the top of the mountain, then walk down the stepped walkway until you reach the rushing glacial river in the valley. A beautiful walk on a paved surface that dips in and out of the little caves along the river. (You'll pay your entrance fee at the kiosk as you leave the gorge to get on the road again.)
@Ruth How much time should we budget for Partnachlamm? Also how much of it is actually hiking/walking?
Never visited the Partnachklamm in my visits to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area, but we'll look into it next time. It looks like a lite 1:45 min 5.9k hike without the lift. Maybe this helps:

I'd give it a bit longer. I have been there and loved it.
The walk itself from the carpark takes some time as it is mostly uphill, and then how long it takes to walk through the gorge and back (I prefer that to up and over and through) is dependent on how many other people are there (it is narrow and you have to pass people going both ways) and how many pictures you want or how much you want to enjoy the caves and waterfalls. I may move slower than some because I want to enjoy where I am rather than going through as quickly as possible.
Mind your head, and I wear a cap to keep the water off my face. My wife is visually disabled so I light up the tunnels and caves with my phone. There are no lights.
It is a great feast for the eyes and ears. I really like it.
One word to the wise, if you decide you need a toilet they get less pleasant and more expensive as you approach. Go before you get to the carpark / bus stop, and again before you start the walk.
Partnachklamm is super cool. I took the river-level path through the gorge and then returned to the entrance by the upper path that goes over the gorge and has some bridges that span the gorge. There is also a snack hut along the upper path that makes very good soup (and has restrooms).
I would check out All Things Garmisch. They were very helpful and friendly setting up a white water rafting trip for us a few years ago.

Hello,
Did the Partnachklamm gorge in October, just outside of the "Peak Season" so we maybe saw only had 10-15 people when going through the gorge itself. From carpark at olympic park through the gorge and turned around and went back through again took
1:45 - 2 hours. It is beautiful, and helpful if you have a light to help see in some of the tunnels. We also did the Zugspitze that same day. Morning to the Zugspitze and afternoon at the gorge. Had lunch in town driving between the two.
Just another mention for the Partnachklamm. I will now go to Garmish end of March 2019 for a few days and checked on the Eckbauerbahn. It is being updated and will not open again until 1 May 2019.
